Escondido Charter High School, (ECHS) founded in 1996, is an independent public high school serving approximately 950 students in grades 9-12. The school offers three Diploma Plans:

ECHS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

“Education Is Our Business”

Escondido Charter High School has established a tradition of academic excellence based on the motto “Education Is Our Business.” Since the founding of the school, ECHS has not solicited federal monies for its programs. This has allowed ECHS to maintain local control of our “Back to Basics” approach that we offer our students.

The average student/ faculty ratio is 18:1 in the Traditional Classroom Program (TCP) and 25:1 in the Individualized Learning Program (ILP). We provide rigorous academic programs and pre/ post-testing in all core subjects based on the mastery of essential knowledge. In addition, ECHS also offers, extracurricular sports and community service opportunities that nurture intellectual, physical, social and personal growth. Escondido Charter High School emphasizes the understanding and appreciation of American Civilization and United States History.

Our Campus Continues to Grow...

When ECHS was founded in August 1996, the school was located in a business complex at 1845 East Valley Parkway, in Escondido, California. To accommodate the growing student enrollment, ECHS purchased 8 acres directly across the street at 1868 East Valley Parkway in 2001. "Phase I" of the new campus opened in August 2003 with the following facilities:

In September 2007, "Phase II" of the campus was completed with the addition of:
